More people now put a question to an AI assistant before they open a page of search results. For an Irish business, that raises a fair question: when someone asks for a good accountant in Galway, or for a web design studio in north Dublin, does your name come up? Here is what we would check first.
Start with a clear, readable website
AI tools and search engines read your site much as a new customer does. They look for plain statements of what you do, who you do it for and where. A page that promises “solutions for modern businesses” tells them nothing. A page that says “bookkeeping for sole traders and small companies in Cork” tells them a great deal.
Make sure your services, location and contact details are written as real text, not buried in images or sliders. Sensible headings, descriptive page titles and alt text help people and software alike. If your site is slow or awkward on a phone, fix that first. Our article on why a website should start with your brand covers the groundwork.
Answer the questions customers actually ask
Assistants favour pages that answer a question directly. Write down the five questions customers ask you most often, then answer each one in two or three honest sentences on the relevant page. Include a price range if you can, how long things take and what happens next. Vague pages get skipped. Specific ones get quoted.
Be the same business everywhere
AI tools build a picture of you from several places: your website, your Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories and any press. If your name, address, services or description differ between them, the picture blurs. Agree one short description of the business and one set of contact details, then use them everywhere.
This is brand consistency doing practical work. A consistent name, logo and tone of voice make you easier to recognise, for customers and for software.
Earn mentions from credible places
Being named by others carries weight. Genuine reviews, a listing with your trade body, a case study written with a client or a mention in local press all help. Do not buy links or invent reviews. They tend to do more harm than good, and nobody can promise you a particular result from AI search.
Keep it current
Check your key pages every quarter. Out-of-date prices, a closed office or a former team member will undermine trust quickly. Treat your website as something you maintain, not something you launch once and leave.
